Behr and Kale form joint venture to develop the Turkish market

“Several of our customers already have vehicle manufacturing operations in Turkey and are aiming to expand this basis. The country’s domestic market also offers interesting potential. Through this sales joint venture we aim to participate substantially in this market", says Markus Flik, Behr Group CEO.

As an interface between Europe and Asia, Turkey is becoming an increasingly important location for the European auto industry, both for the export market and local production. Over the past years, the country has grown into a central hub for the European auto and parts supplier industry and is a key gateway to the markets in the Middle East and in the neighboring countries. In 2009, around 870,000 vehicles were produced in Turkey: 360,000 commercial vehicles and 510,000 passenger cars. For the coming years, forecasts predict an average annual growth in this region of around 5%.
